Top Employer Questions

Q: How are your services different from other Career Centers or Employment/Recruitment Services?

A: The majority of Boston Career Link services are free, funded by the Mass. Dept. of Workforce Development and the Boston Private Industry Council. Currently, BCL's Quarterly Job Fairs are the only events requiring a booth fee.

There are 32 career centers in Massachusetts. Boston Career Link is different from other centers in that our services focus on the Job Seekers and Employers of the Greater Boston access area. Boston Career Link is also operated by Goodwill, a community-based organization that inspires us to advocate for employer diversity in the workplace.

Q: How does BCL find candidates for an Employer?

A: BCL Accounts Executives enter  your job openings on our Employer Services Site, which posts the job opening and a unique Job Order Number to the Boston Career Link website, Mass. Job Quest and America's Job Bank.

Fliers or Info Sheets marketing your opening are posted in our Career Center Resources Room for public viewing, and it is emailed to over 2,000 BCL Members, all 32 statewide career centers, and hundreds of BCL stakeholders in Greater Boston who come in contact with job seekers.

Q: If we have multiple openings, are they posted separately or as a group?

A: Job Postings are entered based on instructions from the Employer. For multiple openings, they can be entered with individual Job Order Numbers, or as a group.

In our Career Center Resources Room, Job Openings are listed by Occupation. For large employers with broad, multiple openings (like a Hospital Group), Job Openings are grouped by the Employer.

Q: How often can an Employer attend an On-Site Event at Boston Career Link?

A: Currently, 16 monthly On-Site Employer Matching Time Slots are available to Employers on a first-come / first-served basis, and Account Executives market the On-Site Events to Employers with openings that match their pool of applicants. Special arrangements can be made for Employers who are not available got On-Site Events.

On-Site Employer Matching Events are free. You can schedule an On-Site Event by calling 617-536-1888, and asking to speak with a Business Accounts Executive.

Q: What is the turn-around time between posting a job and meeting with candidates?

A: BCL Accounts Executives enter your job openings within 8-business hours of receipt, and they are marketed immediately.

You may connect with job seekers through our weekly On-Site Events, a Tailored Event, or our Quarterly Job Fairs. Groups are also pre-screened regularly for specific Occupational Clusters, and they can be directed to your business, key contact or your website, depending on your specific instructions.
